Okay, it's come to my attention that someone has posted clips from TIP on to YouTube. Until we can get all the TIP members together to talk about this, I'm making the temporary decision to close distribution and suspend all projects. It may become permanent, depending on the consensus of all members.

If you've sent us money for discs already, we'll complete your request.

~Jen

ETA: Thanks, everyone, for your support and comments. It'll probably take us at least a week to get in touch with all the TIP members, since a lot of them are offline right now due to traveling, tests, plowing the South Field [ED: You made that up], etc.... We also want think time. Thanks for your patience. <3

That sucks! I'm sorry someone took advantage of you guys like this. Have you all considered just putting out sub files? That way people can download the files to use with DVDs they already have? For example just offer the subtitled track to Elisabeth but not the video. That way people who have purchased the Elisabeth DVD can then download the sub track and load it with their DVD on the computer? You won't have anymore troubles with people uploading your video and you're then encouraging people to purchase the DVDs! :) Just figured I'd offer that as an alternative to shutting down all together.

IMO, that's actually not a bad idea! That way, more could be subbed, too, *and* Takarazuka would be getting money. I'd be down with that (though I only have four so far), though I don't know how TIP feels about such matters.

A couple anime groups started doing it awhile back and yeah some people hated it but those who bought the DVDs liked it. That way the subtitlers were off the hook because what they were doing wasn't illegal and they got a warm fuzzy feeling that they were helping to support the company. That and the subtitling groups didn't have to waste their time burning DVDs anymore :)

This does seem like a reasonable idea at first. The problem is, it only takes one person to rip their own DVD and upload it -- and then it's all over the internet, *in DVD quality*, with TIP's name and TIP's subtitles attached. We're still trying to think of the best solution, but we just don't want to be associated with this kind of thing. :\

Sorry, Julie. Was using my cell phone, and by the time I'd finished typing I think you'd commented. Didn't mean to double your answers.

Thanks. We did consider that option way back when, but once the raw sub files are available publically, the potential for abuse sadly becomes all the greater. So we voted for the slower, old-fashioned way.

All the text translations ARE available publically, however.

Psst... not actually. None of my full-length translations are available in the exact same version online (with TIP edits and the same-day adlibs) and for the Sampler some of the songs were only done for the disk and never posted online. I think of the stuff I do for TIP as for TIP only and once everyone has put in their two-cents I don't consider it entirely "mine" anymore...

This is true for mine as well, but people would (supposedly) have commercial copies anyway, so the same-day adlibs and things wouldn't matter. Samplers are samplers.... I'm thinking more about the full scripts. *shrug*
