January Update

I will do monthly updates if it kills me. *resolute pose*

Sooo~ Let me see....

[livejournal.com profile] ruderal_species has finished her first rough draft of Gekijou: Jose and Carmen. Hopefully she won't mind me linking to it here, since the entry in her journal isn't locked. ;) She may also have another announcement for everyone fairly soon, so keep your eyes on this journal!

I am extremely thrilled to report that the timing of the subs for Elisabeth is DONE. We're going through and doing our final edits to make sure spelling, punctuation and such didn't get missed, and that everything is readable and as clear as mud possible. It'll probably still be quite a few weeks before we pronounce it done, but it's definite good news!

Gaisenmon and Epiphany are putting along, and you can see roughly where we're at by keeping your eye on their project pages.

[livejournal.com profile] muffin_song is contemplating a possible Top Secret project, and I'd tell you all about it, but then I'd have to kill you. ;)

Anyone else? Anything to add?

And now I'm going to stand on my soap box while I have the opportunity and get some feedback from everyone.

1) Well, firstly, please don't be shy about adding your comments on the project pages to tell us (and everyone) what you thought about the show itself and/or the subtitles. We've definitely been changing our subbing programs and things, and it's great to have feedback about what you guys would like to see us doing. Plus, it gives other people a feel for which shows they might want to get from us, and the more feedback, the less we look like we're sending things off into a black hole. :)

2) Since I'm getting further along in Epiphany, I'm thinking about what I would like to do next, but I have some reservations on some of them, so I thought I'd ask you guys what you thought. (Well, actually, I also have a Top Secret project, but I can't do that one for a while, so....) In the plus side for all of these, they're some of my all-time favorite and adored shows. I'll list my reservations below.

My possible thoughts are:
Eire no Zanshou -- No reservations about this one, actually. It is love, love, LOVE.
Figaro! -- Will very likely be out on DVD within the next 5 or so years.
Scout -- Also likely to be out on DVD when Tomu becomes a top star, and I don't have a script, so it'll take me a while, if it's doable at all.
Futari Dake ga Waru -- Also another show which is complete love, though not too terribly original, since it follows the Zuka Central America Plot Generator cliches. ;) Unfortunately, my copy is scratched enough that I can't copy it directly, so I'd either need to find a new copy, or copy it in a very round-about fashion which would degenerate the quality to a VHS level.
Oh! And SAY IT AGAIN -- This is a Bow Hall starring Naruse Kouki and Asami Hikaru, based on "Two Gentleman of Verona". Would people want another Shakespeare adaption right after I finish Epiphany?

I'm not going to do a poll, because then only lj people could vote, so just drop a note below if you'd like, please! Just remember, I still have to finish Epiphany, so it'll probably be a while before I move on. ;)

~Jen

ETA: I'm really glad to see some people commenting! But I do want to say something here because I think my post was a little misinterpreted. I've already narrowed down the shows that I want to do to the list above, so I'm really not looking for other suggestions. There are so many great shows out there, I totally agree, but translating takes a lot of time, so I really want to work on shows that I love personally. What I'd like to know is, out of that list, which ones seem most interesting to you guys as well? :)

"[livejournal.com profile] wao_wao and [livejournal.com profile] mon_bouche are also contemplating a Top Secret Project, but we're waiting for 1) the show in question to arrive and 2) [livejournal.com profile] wao_wao to stop being spacey and translating other things." ;-)

Aw, I was soooo hoping my Almost Done project would be All Done so I could do the monthly update and the announcement. *cries* Next month! Next month!

I'll just hold off on my Secret Project until then too. Heh heh... We pretty much all have Secret Projects. I feel so devious. ;)

[identity profile] caithion.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
You'll just have to do an early February announcement. *grin*

I feel so devious.

^^;; I feel lost. I'm not even sure what everyone is talking about anymore. *snerk*

[identity profile] ruderal-species.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
That's because our Secret Projects are *so* Secret that even we don't know what they are!

Well, except you should know what mine is. If you've been reading all the whining.

Isn't it interesting how all the comments on our posts are from us? We're so self-centered. ;)

More like desperately trying to make this thing look alive. ....Do we have rabies or something?

I was thinking of Hanagumi Phantom since they've recentley aired that on Sky Stage not too long ago and would make gorgeous subs(plus Osa is gorgeous), or Marrakech.

Ohh Figaro!! I heard good things about that one and its Mizu so you can't go wrong, :)!

I wouldn't mind another Shakespeare series but if I were to pick one, it would be Romeo & Juliet '99, :D!

[identity profile] shirabyoshi.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, did I forget to mention I posted it to you and [livejournal.com profile] caithion yesterday? I think I must have. Of course, it may not actually be done, but I dare to dream.

You know what would make a great Secret Project for everyone? MARRAKECH. <3

[identity profile] ruderal-species.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
You're my favorite. :)

Suggestions

[identity profile] mglory67.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Elisabeth is almost done???? Jumps up and down and does a little dance. Waaahooo! Keep plugging away at it. As for other suggestions, I would suggest these: Ephemeral Love and possibly Ludwig II. I'm obsessed with the Habsburgs. Oh and another that would interest me would be Lucifer's Tears.

[identity profile] shetan83.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I have ideas as to what this Top Secret Project might be... =P

[identity profile] shetan83.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, I'm highly interested in everything on that list except Scout. And that's because I haven't seen enough of RanTom to be highly excited about it. But oh, give me some Amami Yuuki! *wibbles*

As for other suggestions, umm... this is kinda silly, but I'm not a fan of the TIP sticker thingy that goes on the CDs. Usually I just peel them off. If it came as like a CD insert or note or something instead I wouldn't mind, but I don't like the sticker.

[identity profile] caithion.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay, happy mail surprise!

[identity profile] caithion.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you and Lucia are on the same page about Marrakech. ;) Someone will probably be doing it eventually.

One vote for Figaro! Noted. ;)

I love R&J'99, but since it was just released on DVD I would rather do something which isn't widely available.

Re: Suggestions

[identity profile] caithion.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
:D I'm really excited too -- it seems like we've been working on it for forever!

Were there any from the list above that sound interesting to you? I'm afraid I'm not really looking for other suggestions right now, although yours are definitely noted! (Personally, I really didn't like either Utakata or Ludwig, so I wouldn't work on them, but I think there are some Sora TIP girls who might be persuaded by Utakata after they finish their Top Secret project. ;))

Lucifer's Tears hasn't been broadcast yet, though when I just looked at the SS schedule, they have it listed for next month. So maybe someday! Personally, I'd like to work on some shows now that you can't buy anymore, to give more people a chance to see them. :D But.... *looks at the other translators*

[identity profile] caithion.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Scout is a very good show for inspiring Tomu love, since I didn't think much of her before I saw it, but I loved it. But I'm going to take your comment as a vote for Eire, because I'm crafty and twist things like that. *g*

I'm not a fan of the TIP sticker thingy that goes on the CDs.

Hmm... Noted, thank you! Is it because of the design, or do you just not like it being a sticker? Is there anyone else who doesn't like them?

[identity profile] shetan83.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, I don't mind at all you "twisting" it like that. =D

I don't like the sticker thingy because when I popped my first TIP DVD into my comp, it might a funny and super loud whirring noise and I panicked and thought my DVD was going to catch on fire so I ripped off the sticker. After that, I just kept having the irrational fear that the sticker was going to overheat and catch on fire, or more realistically, come off because the glue melted and then get stuck in my drive. =(

[identity profile] wao-wao.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Eh heh, well don't get your heart set on anything. You could be wrong. ;-)

[livejournal.com profile] princesslucia talked me into buying a script for Utakata no Koi, so that one will probably become a project someday. ;) <3 We'll see!

[identity profile] mglory67.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Pouts slightly. Heh. Actually, any or all of the titles on your list sound great, with Figaro and Say it Again really catching my eye! Keep up the great work and I'll be passing through periodically.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

[identity profile] shirabyoshi.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Regarding Marrakech, I think I'll wear down [livejournal.com profile] jenebi eventually. I mean, I've already made her buy the DVD.

Regarding Phantom, of course I have the Hanagumi raku that was broadcast recently, but there's no script available. :(

Regarding Figaro, well, I did quite like it, but if you're going to do an Oota-sensei Bow Hall, there's no beating Tom Jones! <3 <3 <3

[identity profile] shirabyoshi.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Now you're making me curious.

Edit: You know what would be masses of fun? A Phantom sampler disc featuring selections from just the angel versions. Or a more generalised angel sampler disc... never mind the general public; just think how much fun we'd have watching and re-watching and re-re-watching...

Says you. ;p

[identity profile] shirabyoshi.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
How do you know I'm not right till you've watched it, hmm?

[identity profile] kyttenfae.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
I voted for Scout! <3 I've been dying to see that show ever since I saw the poster, and it seems the kind of show that would be nice to actually know what is going on, lol. <3333
