Genji sub?

Hm, so I'd like to run something by everyone to judge the response. I'm almost done with my current project ("Eire"), so I've started thinking about what I want to do next. ('Next' being probably not until January, but I like to plan ahead. *laughs*)

What I was thinking of was "The New Tale of Genji" (1981). I've been wanting to do a full 70s or 80s show for a while, and I've been wanting to do a Nihonmono. Plus, being Genji it's a rather famous Japanese tale, which seems appropriate.

Also, the top star, Haruna Yuri, was one of the first stars to become a top star, in the mid-70s. First she was a star in Flower Troupe (and played the first Oscar), then she was top star of Moon Troupe from '76 - '82, before moving to Senka for six more years (sound familiar?). Also starring Daichi Mao, who is famous in her own right. And featuring many folks who moved on to Senka and might be familiar to you: Natori Rei, Misa Noeru, Kyou Misa, Suzuka Teru(ko), Hoshihara Misao, Kou Akemi, Kuni Natsuki....

I guess what I want to know is, it's rather old, so is there any interest? I don't want to do it if absolutely no one wants to watch it. ;)

(And, er, it's also dependent on the script being available in the show's program, which I haven't had a chance to check yet. I don't *think* there would have been any copyright issues, but you never know.)

I'm all for it! *two thumbs up* As much as my focus is taken up by Takarazuka from 1998 onward, I totally encourage introducing people to older shows.

(After two Genji-related shows I'm afraid I'm not a fan, but I'd probably still watch this one.)

I would definitely be interested and it would be nice to have a subtitled nihonmono show (epiphany is sort of a cross over in my mind.) And I loved Haruna Yuri in Eternal Tale so it would also be nice to see her in something more.

I would definitely like to see Genji subtitled. I think this version might be really fascinating with an interesting cast. I personally would also like to see the '89 version with Tsurugi Miyuki but she has at least a role in this one. So yes, go for it.

I would like to see Genji subtitled. It sounds like a very interesting cast, and I'm really looking forward to seeing Tsurugi Miyuki in it as I haven't seen anything with her.
